E’ descritto un materiale contenente gelatina, silice e tensioattivo, utile come adsorbente per la rimozione di cromo esavalente da soluzioni acquose e come sito del processo di conversione del cromo esavalente in cromo trivalente. Sono inoltri descritte in dettaglio sia le fasi di preparazione che le fasi riguardanti l'applicazione del materiale.
We focused our attention on the removal of chromate ions present in the environment. Several materials have been developed and tested, ranging from low cost waste material, such as moss peat, sawdust, zeolites, clay, hazelnut shell, to more sophisticated adsorbents, such as activated carbon, modified zeolite, modified clay, modified steel slag, nanoscale magnetic material, chitosan based composite.
We propose a new composite for the removal of toxic ions from wastewater. SEM and NMR analysis showed that this material is made by an interconnected network of gelatin, silicate and surfactant molecules in which water molecules manifest a high mobility. Analyses of the elemental content in the CTAB-silica gelatin composite suggest that the adsorption of chromium takes also places in the internal areas. On the composite, after the adsorption event takes place the reduction in situ of Cr(VI) in Cr(III). This composite shares the advantage to accomplish both the adsorption of chromate ions and the reduction with a unique step
